LinkedIn is one of your best partnering tools at any convention. This was proven to me again and again at the recent #BIO2014 convention in San Diego. Ditch the card scanners, the wallet bulging with business cards and the scribbled indecipherable notes, your best friend is LinkedIn. This social media tool is lasting, detailed and personal. Make the connection by thanking a contact for making the time to meet with you when requesting a link to them. If they accept, encourage them to follow your company page so they can keep in touch with your progress. Use LinkedIn to research someone or a company before you meet them. Find out if you have connections in common, a great way to break the ice and your mutual connections will give you clues as to their connectivity within mutual business networks. Remember that LinkedIn is the most used social media platform in the global biotech industry.
